The Centre for Economic and Social Inclusion is very grateful to the Ministry of Justice, Portugal for supporting this event by providing the venue. It is a government conference centre in the attractive Baixa district, the oldest part of Lisbon . Significant progress has been made in the offender employment field in recent years. But economic circumstances have changed dramatically:• Have lessons been learned and how can we sustain and mainstream the progress that has been made? • How do we continue to persuade employers to train and give jobs to offenders? This event will bring together experts from all the key partners working in the offender employment field across the EU to: • Review the prospects for offender employment • Showcase and promote good practice in the offender employment field• Consider how to develop and sustain employer engagement
A new pan European Ex-Offender Community of Practice for all organisations working to promote the social inclusion of ex offenders has recently been formed. This event is the first opportunity for all the potential partners to meet and learn how the network will operate and how they can get involved.
Key Note Speaker: Portuguese Secretary State for Justice - Dr. José Manuel Vieira Conde Rodrigues (Confirmed)
The programme will include a range of workshops and examples of good practice. This event will be an opportunity for policy makers and practitioners in the offender employment field to exchange ideas. Organisations will be able to showcase their projects to an audience of experts and enable all conference delegates to debate the issues and learn from each other.
